Prologue
Once upon a time, a tranquil village existed where everyone lived in harmony; nevertheless, a villager disappeared suddenly, leaving behind only his tattered clothes marked with claw slashes and soaked with blood.
Wolves couldn't be the culprits; there were none in the vicinity. Additionally, wolves couldn't consume a human without leaving traces behind.
Bears couldn't be to blame either; there were none nearby. And if a bear were to appear, wouldn't all the villagers hear the uproar?
It couldn't be another villager or a stranger as well. No human could shred clothes and leave claw marks on them.
The villagers concluded it was a werewolf, a dreadful creature that can masquerade as a human. Its large claws could rend a person in half, and its colossal mouth could swallow a human whole.
The villagers collectively deduced that the werewolf had adopted the guise of a human and devoured the poor villager. Thus, the villagers assembled in the village square, forming a circle to unearth the impostor.
Werewolves could only replicate the external appearance...For this reason, they engaged in an earnest conversation. They were certain that the liar would be exposed if they kept talking.
They continued to discuss... Who was the liar?
They carried on conversing... Who aroused the most suspicion?
They persisted in dialogue... Who wasn't one of us?
But they found nothing, not a single clue. They scrutinized each other's faces, asked various questions, and focused on every minute detail. Yet, their efforts were futile.
In desperation, they decided to do a ballot. They would use stones to vote for the most suspicious person, and then the person with the most stones would be executed.
Thus, the crafty werewolf lived amongst the villagers, morphing into one of them by day and preying on them by night. Werewolves weren't particularly formidable creatures. A pair of well-armed villagers could defeat one. In contrast, if a werewolf faced a lone villager its victory was certain.
In this manner, the days passed by. The conversations never ceased, and the werewolf continued its deception.
Until just one villager remained...
